iLabInvest is a Thai equity crowdfunding platform.  We offer the opportunity to invest in businesses that we feel are exciting and have a potential for a good financial return.  As we are an extension of iLab, a private business incubator, we vet the opportunities from an entrepreneur’s perspective as if we were investing in them ourselves.  Most times, businesses on our platform our actually incubated or co-developed by iLab, so by default, we are co-investors in these businesses.

Invited investors login to our site and can select from active investment opportunities to view more details and documents.   We also alert our investor community when a new offering becomes active and ready to receive investment.  Our model intentionally has the payment processing outside of the platform, via electronic bank transfers, and is only effective after an offering is successful and complete.  

NOTE:  WE DO NOT YET HAVE A CROWDFUNDING LICENSE FROM THE THAI SECURITIES AND EXCHANGE COMMISSION (SEC).  

Crowdfunding is legal in Thailand and we are in discussion with the SEC to tweak our platform business model to fit the requirements, yet be innovative and creative to offer a wonderful investor user experience.  A license is required, even for invited-only platform, like ours.

The risk of investing via iLabInvest is not different from investing for equity anywhere else.  Investors need to analyze the opportunity and information properly and take a risk for a return/reward.  We do an extra degree of due diligence but business investing is inherently a risk that comes with potential rewards and benefits.  We would like you to be fully aware of this.  

We ask for identification upon signing up for two main reasons:

1.  To follow the Know Your Customer/Investor (KYC) initiative and expectations that the SEC expects of us, as well as we would like to know all investors that join our community.  

2.  Proof of citizenship is also a valid requirement due to foreign ownership restrictions in Thai law in some business.  We do allow and encourage non-Thai nationals to join our platform and freely invest in offerings.  Our technology will soon do a real-time segmentation between Thai and foreign investors, in cases that there are foreign ownership limitations.  For now, we manually delete investments from foreign individuals and entities, if it exceeds any foreign ownership limit.  

Yes. While property crowdfunding may be a new concept, we've made sure that iLabInvest is compliant with the appropriate state, territory and federal laws. This means we've dug into some very special time with our lawyers (and our pockets) to ensure we comply with the relevant legislation covering real estate crowdfunding.
